looking out of our sweet rental truck. someone said it was a bullet hole under the duct tape.
Nigel:
There is a car rental place on the island?
kelly:
apparently there is! and word on the street was that this truck is the one that the producer of the deadliest catch rents when he is out there.
Shopping Bag:
Umm, guys? Is anyone besides me more interested in / worried about the fact that there is a freaking bullet hole in the windshield? Is this St. Paul Island or Tombstone?

near the coast guard station, there was an FAA installation with three round white buildings they called the golf balls. this is a crater lake behind the golf balls.
Nigel:
What does the FAA do out there? Are they manned buildings?

on the last day we were there, we went to the museum in town. they had seal pelts with the guard hairs removed. they have to be just about the softest thing ever.

add comment

this is a photo in the museum, they used to have cows on the island. i thought it was a funny picture, because the cows look so out of place.

we went for a hike on the last day to try to find some lava tubes. we had some vague directions, walk perpendicular to the second pull-out and head towards the first of three hills... we didn't make it.
